DO I NEED A REFERRAL BY ANOTHER HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL (E.G. DOCTOR OR NURSE PRACTITIONER) TO SEE A THERAPIST?
No, you don’t need a referral to see one of our therapists! However, it is always a good idea to keep your primary care provider informed, especially if you have a good relationship with them.
HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A THERAPIST AT SAERO?
Thank you for considering us to help you with this journey! If you would like to book an initial consultation, please either click the Book Now button at the top of this page to access our online appointment booking page, or fill out the Contact form, and a member of our team will get back to you within 3 business days.
HOW LONG DO I NEED THERAPY?
It can vary from individual to individual, and depends on your needs. But, a therapist at our clinic will work together to identify some goals to utilize our time effectively and efficiently, and to help get the most out of your valuable time in therapy.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO SEE A THERAPIST?
It’s up to you! But we recommend that the initial several sessions are scheduled weekly so that we can get the momentum going! After that, we can meet weekly, biweekly, or even monthly. Each session is about 50 minutes in duration, or what we call “one clinical hour”.
WHAT ARE THE FEES?
Our therapists offer a free 15-minute consultation. We use this time to get to know each other, and ask questions to see if you and your therapist are a good fit!
After this initial consultation, our therapists’ standard rate will apply. You may find your therapist’s rate in their profile page, which ranges from $135 – $140 for 1 clinical hour of individual counselling. (Please note that 1 clinical hour means 50 minutes of session time. The remaining 10 minutes are used to complete the clinical notes of our session together and other administrative tasks in relation to our session.)
Because we are committed to providing care that is not only high-quality but also affordable, many of our therapists do have a limited number of spots for a reduced fee/sliding scale for those who find therapy to be financially inaccessible, and for students. Please do reach out to us if you are interested!
WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS DO YOU ACCEPT?
Our clinic utilizes a secure system to process your payment. After each session, you will have an option to pay via major credit cards or by Interac e-transfer. Once payment is received, a receipt will be sent to you via email to claim as a medical expense for tax purposes, and/or to receive reimbursements from your insurance provider.
Please note that payment for the previous session must be received before another session can be booked.
ARE SESSIONS COVERED BY OHIP?
Although qualified registered social workers and registered psychotherapists are legally able to provide psychotherapy services under Psychotherapy Act 2007, these fees are unfortunately not covered by OHIP, ODSP, or OW.
However, you can claim psychotherapy services provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) or Registered Psychotherapist (RP) as a tax deductible medical expense for Canada Revenue Agency.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
We ask that you give your therapist at least 48 hours’ notice if you are not able to attend your scheduled session.
No-shows or cancellations without at least 48 hours’ notice may result in a cancellation fee that is equal to 50% of your therapist’s standard rate with the exception of extenuating circumstances that have been discussed with your therapist.
DO YOU OFFER VIRTUAL SESSIONS?
Yes, we do! While we aim to offer in-person sessions in the near future, Saero Therapy is, in fact, a fully virtual mental health clinic at this time.
For all our sessions, we use a Canadian-based PHIPA compliant practice software which includes secure videoconferencing. While this video format may not be for everyone, it can be a great way to connect with a therapist without travelling or commuting – in the comfort of your own home. And, most of our clients found it to be just as effective and personal as in-person services! In addition, some of our therapists also offer a phone therapy option.
As a virtual mental health clinic, we are committed to accessibility to care. If you have any concerns, please do reach out to us!
